Lingual Braces in Parker, Colorado

Family smiling together

Lingual braces are a lesser-known orthodontic option and can be more practical and inconspicuous than traditional metal braces. Like some other kinds of braces, lingual braces are placed on the back of the teeth instead of the front, but there are also a few differences in terms of fit, comfort, and discretion.

What are Lingual Braces

Lingual braces are similar to traditional braces in that wires and brackets are still installed onto the teeth to fix misalignments in the teeth and jaws. However, lingual braces differ because they are placed on the backsides of the teeth facing the tongue, instead of on the front surfaces. This allows lingual braces to be almost completely invisible, providing a much more discreet option for orthodontic patients.

Benefits of Lingual Braces

Below are a few of the benefits of lingual braces:

  • Less obvious than traditional metal braces
  • Receive the same benefits as traditional braces without the embarrassment of bulky metal braces
  • Discolorations or white spots that may occur will be invisible once the braces come off
  • Custom-fit for each patient, giving a higher level of comfort

With more and more patients asking about lingual braces, we think it’s important for orthodontic patients to be informed. If you’re interested in lingual braces as an orthodontic solution for you or your child, please contact Little Rockies Pediatric Dentistry.
